Florida State extended its home winning streak to four matches Wednesday night, overcoming a determined Jacksonville team to secure a 3-1 victory at Tully Gymnasium in Tallahassee.
The Seminoles won 25-17, 25-22, 24-26, 25-23, improving to 9-6 overall after Jacksonville pushed the match into a fourth set and nearly forced a deciding fifth.
Senior outside hitter Kyleene Filimaua led Florida State with 16 kills and 14 digs, recording her seventh double-double of the season. Nenu Kpea added 13 kills on an outstanding .684 hitting percentage, while Bailey Higgins contributed 11 kills and a career-high 15 digs.
Florida State finished with 55 kills, 69 digs and eight blocks, using a balanced offensive performance to withstand Jacksonville's late rallies.
Florida State Takes Control of Opening Set
The Seminoles established an early advantage in the first set, building a 7-4 lead behind aggressive attacking and steady defensive play.
Jacksonville responded with a run that tied the score at 10-10, showing it would not be an easy opponent despite entering the match with a losing record.

The Seminoles moved ahead 13-10 and carried a 15-12 advantage into the media timeout.
Jacksonville continued competing behind graduate student Abbie Tuyo and senior Claire Mrukowski, who provided important offensive production for the Dolphins.

Freshman Jaylyn Tuiasosopo answered with a kill to even the score, helping the Dolphins regain momentum.

Her ability to contribute both offensively and defensively helped Florida State remain competitive during Jacksonville's strongest stretches.
Kpea was equally important.
The sophomore middle blocker recorded 13 kills while hitting a career-best .684 on 19 attempts, providing Florida State with an exceptionally efficient option at the net.
Higgins also delivered a career performance.
The junior opposite hitter contributed 11 kills and 15 digs, earning the first double-double of her collegiate career.
Her 15 digs established a new personal best.
Setter Emma Lilo directed the Seminoles' offense with a match-high 43 assists while adding 13 digs.
The performance marked Lilo's fourth double-double of the season.
With three players reaching double-digit kills and several contributors delivering strong defensive numbers, Florida State demonstrated the offensive balance needed to survive a competitive four-set match.
Abbie Tuyo Powers Jacksonville's Comeback Effort
Jacksonville received another strong performance from graduate student Abbie Tuyo, who led the Dolphins with 14 kills and 12 digs.
Tuyo hit .375 and recorded her third consecutive double-double.
She has also reached double-digit kills in nine of Jacksonville's last 10 matches.
Freshman Jaylyn Tuiasosopo added 11 kills and 10 digs, recording the second double-double of her career.
Mrukowski provided important offensive contributions throughout the match, particularly during Jacksonville's second- and fourth-set rallies.
Junior setter Emersen Strain finished with a career-high 26 assists.
Jacksonville also held a narrow advantage in team blocks, finishing with nine compared with Florida State's eight.
Haley Yount led the Dolphins at the net with two solo blocks and four block assists.
Despite the defeat, Jacksonville showed resilience by winning the third set and forcing Florida State into a tight finish in the fourth.
The Dolphins fell to 7-10 overall.
Florida State Extends Home Winning Streak
Wednesday's victory marked Florida State's fourth consecutive home win and provided another positive result before the Seminoles return to ACC competition.
The Seminoles showed offensive balance through Filimaua, Kpea and Higgins while relying on Lilo's setting to create opportunities throughout the match.
Jacksonville challenged Florida State in nearly every set, but the Seminoles executed when the match reached its most important moments.
The fourth-set finish was particularly significant.
After allowing Jacksonville to erase a six-point deficit, Florida State responded at 23-23 with the final two points to prevent a deciding fifth set.

Florida State remains at Tully Gymnasium for two ACC matches this weekend.
The Seminoles host Georgia Tech on Friday, October 9, at 7 p.m., followed by Clemson on Sunday, October 11, at 1 p.m.
