The opening-set comeback established the tone for the remainder of the contest.
Cougars Take Command With 25-17 Second-Set Victory
BYU carried its momentum into the second set, quickly establishing an 8-4 advantage.
A three-point run featuring a Burgess-Mortensen block and a service ace from Lulu Po'uha helped the Cougars build their early lead.
Utah continued fighting behind contributions from Kamryn Gibadlo, Princess Atamah and Devyn Wiest.
The Utes reduced the deficit to 18-15 following an Atamah kill and a BYU attack error.
However, BYU maintained its composure and responded with another productive offensive stretch.

Callahan then scored off the Utah block before a Utes error ended the set.
The 25-17 victory gave BYU a commanding 2-0 match advantage.
The Cougars' ability to limit extended Utah scoring runs continued to separate the teams.
BYU Completes Sweep With Strong Third Set
Utah showed early resistance in the third set, briefly taking a 3-2 lead behind kills from Loryn Helgesen and Wiest.
However, BYU quickly established control through another series of scoring runs.
The Cougars built a 15-11 advantage while hitting .533 without an attack error through that point of the set.

BYU Extends Winning Streak and Remains Unbeaten in Big 12 Play
The victory represented another important step in BYU's successful conference campaign.
The Cougars improved to 6-0 in Big 12 play and extended their overall winning streak to 11 matches.
Their fourth consecutive sweep also demonstrated an ability to finish matches without allowing opponents to build sustained momentum.
